Checking Your Traffic Daily - Site Stats

It is important for you to know how to check your traffic on your site. Many people don't have a clue. If you don't know how to check this, how will you know if you are making any headway?

DO NOT add a traffic counter to your site. This has newbie written all over it. If you want to be taken seriously in your business, you have to look like a professional.

There are many companies out there that will offer you a free stat counter for your site. Many of them will have invisible versions of their counter for you. These are all fine and dandy but aren't you putting the cart before the horse?

Besides, you probably already have a better stat counter and you don't even know it. You are doing unnecessary work that isn't getting you any new results.

Every hosting company will offer you a way to see your traffic numbers, (site stats). If you have a cpanel, find the icon that says 'Web/FTP Stats' and click on it. Next click on 'Awstats'. This will give you a very easy to read breakdown of your traffic. Where it is coming from, which pages are viewed and how many times, which spiders and robots are indexing your site. Take some time to get familiar with this area. This is "Need To Know" information.

If you use sub-domains, you will have to click on 'Subdomain Stats' to see specific info on that traffic.

If you don't have a cpanel or you don't know how to check your stats, write to your hosting company and ask them. They will be happy to tell you where to look. If your host does not have any site statistics for you to see, you need a new host.
