More Info about Your Mailing List

This site is here to tell you how to get traffic to your website. I have added this section to impress upon you the importance of having a list. Without a list, getting all the traffic in the world is useless.

Having a list will give you traffic on demand when ever you have anything to promote. Even though you have to get traffic in the first place to build a list, it is probably the most important, on going, traffic technique there is.

A Note About Autoresponders:

You can't build a list without an autoresponder. If you don't know what an autoresponder is, it is a piece of software that will email the people on your list, the messages that you have previously installed. When someone joins your list, they will automatically start getting emails from you. You put a series of messages into the autoresponder and it does the rest. You go back to traffic generation where you will do the most good for your business.

There are many autoresponders out there to choose from. How do you pick the right one?

You will find software that you can add to your server to email messages to your list. This a very dangerous thing to do. First of all, it will use a lot of your bandwidth and cause the rest of your site to run very slow. Second, if you don't install it right, it may not collect any information from your form. Plus there is data base failure and a bunch of other things that can go wrong with this software.

Next is the subject of using your own isp to mail your list. This is the absolute worst thing that you can do. All it will take is a couple people complaining to your isp about spam and you will lose your internet connection. Yikes!

So, you definitely NEED to use an autoresponder service to send your messages to your list. Using the right one will make or break your list.

You will find many free autoresponders available out there. I normally recommend using free whenever possible. In this case, I have to tell you, free is not good. There have been many new laws lately about mailing lists and many of the free autoresponders are not keeping up with the laws.

• Any commercial email that you mail out must have an automatic unsubscribe link in the email.
• All commercial emails must include the name and physical address of the sender.
• When someone signs up to receive your messages, they must confirm this request with a link in the email from the address they used to join your list.

If your autoresponder does not include these options in their system, don't use it. There are some very stiff fines involved here and your business is at stake.

1. Your Domain Name
2. Your Web Hosting
3. Your Autoresponder
